I enjoy finding even just a few Civil War relics...

Being a longtime hunter from Northern Indiana now replanted back in KY it's fun as heck for me to find even just a few Civil War items to dig. Got me a 69 Minnie, 36 Colt, General Service Eagle Coat button, chain that may or may not be off a nipple protector and a huge finial that may or may not be off a flag pole. lol. Lead washer and tiny buckle.

Interesting group. I sometimes find civil war vintage items here in CT, but finding them "on location" in the south would be more exciting.

Even though it's next door and not at the actual site it still turns up a CW goodie or two every time I go there. It was a house site. The property on the other side is the same but less to dig.
I've been on the actual site 4 times and did well but won't be going back, at least for awhile. I think I was finding too much and the owner wasn't satisfied with taking 50% of my finds. That's his right of course. I don't blame him. If it was my property, I'd want it all too!

My first thought when looking at the chain was that maybe it held a nipple protector. I dug one minus the chain in Virginia a few years ago. Here's a shot of it.
