I can give you some basics to look for but the final choice is up to you.
I could tell you to get this camera or that camera and you buy it and don't like it.
It all depends on your needs.............

I have enough respect for you that if I purchased or was thinking about purchasing a camera that you knew about, I would appreciate your feedback, pro or con. I for one wouldn't at all be offended if you thought my camera was junk. At least very long.
I wish you right now would say something like, " before you buy that Dimage, you should check out the XXXXX."
I think it would be great if you would set up an RM's top 10 list of cameras, like on that Steves web site. List the best cameras in a certain price range from $10,000 down. Those other guys recommendations are just opinions, you should share yours!

I was just at my pharmacist and he just bought the Olympus E-10. He has some good results with it.

I have a C- 700 and been playing with it since Christmas and I am impressed with it, but still new to it and still learning.
I bought differnt lenses for it for closeups off of E Bay for my coins and also was able to get a book on this camera how to do differnt things with it.
I wonder if RM has ever used one of these or looked at them.
My daughter works for a photo studio in NJ and they sell camera there too and this was one her boss recomended for me without spending my life savings.

I just took this quick like and then I optimized for quick loading, but it was dark so I lighten it a little after I did the optimize.
It give you a idea.
Latter tonite after work i may post a coin with one of the close up lenes.
Rick

Did you do any touch up, or is the way it was taken, Sure looks nice.
I did a penny quick like tonite and did no touchups, but did use a closeup lens on my C 700

on line, I can't imagine wanting better. Just out of courosity, Take one of those coins in Photoshop and enlarge it to about 7 inches across and see how it prints. I am not saying it will not be as sharp as the original but am cuirous.
Take the original and not the one you posted as it is a lot smaller pixelwise.
