Those are not nails they do not go in point first that is why the point is not sharp . They are storm anchors for asbestos roof tiles ,used to hold down the bottom edge from wind lift . the flat part goes against roof with pin sticking up between two tiles ,the next tile has a pre drilled hole at bottom edge the pin goes through and is bent over.

A few months ago, I got permission to hunt around a very old building, that I KNEW was going to produce some nice silver coins. In a 10 x 10 foot area, I probably dug 20 of those things !! They are EVIL !!
 
Finally someone who knows. I find them all the time. They give me a cent reading and they are a pain in the A. LOL Thanks for the info taz42o
 
They are worth their weight in copper....($3.61/lb.)....:clapping: I carry a bucket in the truck just for the copper and brass finds. It adds up pretty fast.
