Setting of opal tested 12 K with acid test kit. I think this was a pendant, and although I seldom wear jewelry, I may have a jeweler replace the small loop so that I can wear if to some fancy event.

Here's some pics

thank you for looking at them

you must suffer with such a wonderous view each time yer out swingin that coll, ( that's southern fer coil :D)
The horror
Now, here's my only knowledge of opals.
Supposedly, and IF yer of the suspicious type, ( which i am not :nono:)
It is bad luck to posses an opal that wasn't a gift from a loving friend.
I say .."bullderdash" to that "bad luck" stuff.
That is one beautifull stone girl.
I hope ya soon find a nice silver chain to attatch it to so ya can wear it.

solid white opal with fine color, fire and size Magz. Not a cheap opal, but it is not a black boulder opal that Queensland is known for. I would not be surprised if replacement price for the opal and mount would be over $500 and it would make a beautiful necklace drop as I'm sure it once was.

Here is a good site for more on opals: http://www.internetopals.com/about/valuing-opals.htm#Solid_Opals

I think the Opal and gold would be worth around $500 retail, that is a very nice opal. To get a 14K bail put on shouldn't cost you more than $75 I would think.
