I don't know if I should post this but I think the truth needs to be told about why Ed didn't go to England. This is sad.

Every one is appreciated. ... Guess I made the mistake of trusting someone who was paid well to be trusted. I've learned from this sad experience and have put additional audit safeguards in place.

There were other "signals" the past couple years that I should have gone with my gut instincts and ended our friendship and business relationship then ... but didn't since I liked and trusted him as a father would a son.

It is so very sad to me. He had keys to my home and business and took care of our pets when we were out of town (I paid him for that service).

The good news in this is I now have a new manager who is never out of motion and has floor management experience from another hardware store. She is going to be a better example for her fellow employees who had become somewhat lazy under the prior manager. Again, my fault for not making a change sooner.

The last good news is that with what the police were able to recover from him, our insurance company will take care of the balance ... even though I'm thinking we'll pay for it long term with higher rates.

Looks like I might win the coveted Golden Whelk award back from Bubba.
