I don't get this.... Goldbug II question.

I was chatting today with a detectorist that even used the goldbug II for hunting on old farmfields for coins. He said after a while its easy to hear the iron. He also said that he only used the 14'' coil because this bigger coil is less sensitive to small flakes of foil.

I thought that the goldbug could not be used for coinhunting..... what about the performance on the wet salty beaches?

Just curious... Eric.

In the dry sand the GB 2 is awesome. Great at really small jewelry that the other detectors miss. I suppose with the 14 inch coil the GB 2 would also be a great coin hunter, allow me to emphasize, in the dry sand.

On the wet sand however, very different story. This detector is not designed to handle the salt water there and it will be basically useless.

The GB2 wouldn't be most peoples choice for a coin hunter. It's discrimination capabilities are limited. However, the fact that it picks up really small gold items actually makes it a popular choice for the beach.
