Went back to the fairgrounds today people finally going home.Remember i said i only dug 3 coins in the last 42 years at 8 inches, they were found with the exp 2. Well today i had a signal come in at 12.37 kind of unstable had iron on the bottom of the screen. dug it at 7 inches first thing a nail dug down and surprise 1906 indian cool.About 30 minutes later i get a great one way signal 12.40 saying 9 inches on the screen dug down 6 inches a nail screen said iron to. Well i kept digging about 2 more inches i started thinking can, another inch and #$%^%$# a 1910 wheat penny that coin was a good 9 to 10 inches deep like i said never dug past 8 inches in my soil. The only setting i change today was sensitivity to plus 3. Ok what does plus 3 mean i know the sensitivity changes when you hunt up and down so whats plus 3 do.
Todays finds 1906 indian i silver roosy a 10 16d 19 23 wheaties about 2 dollars in clad change.I loving this cxt to bad got to go back to work.

The +3 ups the sensitivity 3 notches above where the detector thinks the sensivity should be. So if your ground has a normal sens setting of 16 the the CTX will operate at 19 (+3)

Congratulations on the depth and finds. +3 means that you are running just a little bit hot on the sensitivity at the expense of listening to a little more chatter, usually ground noise but you are usually gaining a little more depth.

I run a open screen if theres more noise i can't here it anyway with all the iron.Well i'm running at about 22 now with plus 3, going to give manual a try next time.Thankx

Running manual on the E-TRAC could help obtain more depth. But on the CTX 3030, I've found deeper targets with Auto +3 than any manual setting. Seems as though the CTX 3030 is better at determining the max Sensitivity it can run, without chattering and becoming counter productive as too much Sensitivity can mask targets with noise. I know some of the former E-TRAC users are complaining about the CTX 3030 being noisy. But as I've suggested before, try the Auto with a positive offset and see how well this thing performs. I think they will find it hunts deeper and with far less chatter, by using what the detector determines to be the optimum Sensitivity setting. JMHO HH Randy

Thats really good ifo Randy:thumbup: It is also the way I expected things to work with the Etrac but was not the case. You are right about the Etrac being better in manual on depth but I could never stand the chatter unless I was running TTF.

Thankx Randy I run a open screen its just to quiet running the disc pattern . Running open lets me hear what i getting into and where the iron sitting .

I agree with hearing the targets. So I set Pattern 1 up with Discrimination and Pattern 2 as an open screen. Then I can toggle back and forth between the two discrimination Patterns by simply pressing the Detect pad. Works well for me! HH Randy

Sounds like you found a coin below iron. Can you give the details pretty please :cheekkiss:
Coins Dug Below Iron Thread

It's important to the CTX Research project - going where no detector before it has apparently gone.

Congrats on you nice hunt,
Albert
