I did something today I don't normally do....

I ran a factory preset mode and it paid off quite well. I started in my no-disc mode and hit an area they sounded like a machine gun going off. So, I decided to use the silver program instead because I wasn't in the mood for all the iron and pull tab noise. I was able to focus on the repeatable high tones and started pulling wheats and silvers out. I dug all but the compact within an hour after switching over. The black disc is a silver war nickle that.s absolutely cooked, the compact gave a deep penny reading and was a solid 12" down, the depth meter was off by 4" as it was reading 8" I'm really enjoying the CTX since I started using it 3 weeks ago. I have the 17" coil coming, but I'm thinking should have kept my 6" instead.

It'surprising how well the CTX will pull targets out of area's previously hunted in the Silver Mode using pattern 1.
I've done the same thing myself. Congrats on the finds

Nice finds and good job. That's why the options are there.

Nice finds.

Great hunt Dan I have a 17 inch coil and use it to find the trashy spots , then the 6 comes out I use the 6 95 percent of the time I would be lost without the 6 it is a killer in heavy trash. sube

I tried the silver mode in three trashy parks for a total of seven hours. I found one silver dime in a spot that I had searched three previous times, four wheats, and one v nickel that was only four and a half inches deep besides the usual clad. It was nice not listening to all the chatter but I do not know if it was worth the effort. I think I will go back to the doctored coin mode and try Sube's method of going an inch at a time. The silver dime and wheats had iron next to them but because of the sound I knew they were good targets.
