I did it...

I finally pulled the plug and got a Gold Bug Pro COMBO with the 5" DD small & 10" elliptical DD Waterproof Search Coils. But I have been reading the forums for a while now, and might sell both of the coils and get the Ultimate coil. I have heard great things about the GBPro and the G2 with the bigger coil and the results in iron and trash.

While I am sure there is a decent learning curve with this machine, is there ANY suggestions that would help keep me in the right direction? Such as
1) Favorite settings for hunting coins/silver (IN THE MIDDLE OF IRON)
2) Favorite settings for relic/button/bullets, etc?

Thanks,
bubbadirect

Congrats on getting a gold bug pro! Great detector. Might consider hanging onto the 10"dd as it is a great coil. Bigger coils can be nice for extra coverage and some extra depth, but they can be harder to work with in areas with dense trash.

congrats
wise move though i would keep the 10" elliptical DD Waterproof Search Coil
its a winner
i run my gold bug pro at 44 on the discrimination & around 60-65 on the sens
you have a great detector

Big coils dig deep friend. Digsgti uses & I also use a 15"/12" SEF coil on his F75se & my T2 se. The G2 is on par with those two detectors in depth with the 15" NEL coil on it. Its better in iron & loves buttons. HH

wltdwiz -- curious why you run 60-65 sensitivity on the unit? I run mine full bore, 100, all the time, and have NEVER had any EMI issues; I would think there'd be too much depth sacrificed to run it that low unless EMI required it, but -- that said, I admit I've never tried running it that low (given how stable it runs at max sensitivity). What is your reasoning such that you have decided to run it that low?

here in az the ground is hot lots of black sand..
the gb pro runs smoother at a lower gain
like driving in fog with your brights :detecting:

Ah I see a lesson here. When we post settings for our machine and area maybe a good ideal to mention the reason for our settings.
Hate to see a new guy trying to use a setting that may not be sutable for his location.
Just a thought
