It is not much to look at but I got into the 1800's today. Went back to the same lot & didn't find much except this 1883 Indian head penny & a 1945 20 centavos. I don't know what is in the soil there but the only coins that are not really bad is the silver. Well at least I can read the date & the silver is good.

May I be the first to congratulate you!!! YOU DID IT!!!:wiggle::cheers: There's more to be found there.. good hunting Bula, Nancy

I told you there would be more firsts.....

wow that must really feel exciting, congrats to you i cant wait to be in your shoes and find one of them

Good find in that old coin.
Wish I could find coins that old around here..

Nice finds Bula. I am with Joel in that I wish I could find more old coins more often. Once in awhile I get a surprise. Good luck in finding more. HH Dennis in Idaho

Hey folks, this week has been a rare one. I have found 10 coins this week ranging from the 1883 to 1958, that is more old coins than I found all last year if my memory serves me correct. The two quarters, the indian head penny and a 1909 v nickle came from the same lot. This is a lot that has been vacant for years & I knew that it had been hit many times. The only reason I went there is that there was a house on the lot next to it that had been torn down, that house was built in 1960. All of the coins were found on the lot next to it. I know that they have been there for many years & that others just missed them.
Just goes to show you that no place is ever hunted out.

Take heart Joel...There are hundreds of old country schools in Manitoba dating back to the 1870"s. You just have to do some research.

Thanks Terry I'll try to hit a few.
Are you from this part of the continent ?

Yes, I recently moved to the Peg and do all of my hunting within driving distance from here. Finding the time is the problem.

Nice coins bula, .............

You sure had a nice hunt bula. I quit feeling bad about the condition of "old" ground recovery coins a lot of years ago and now...I wouldn't give up even one of them. The accumulation of the memories attached to them is as important as the objects themselves. However...when coins come out of the ground nice, it just sweetens the whole experience!

That is true, it is a joy just finding them. I found another today that I hope someone can ID for me. This one is silver & a little better shape than the IH.
