I did a little pre DIV detecting today at my friends place and found a nice handful of bullets. I always enjoy digging this history.

Pam and I are safely and soundly in Virginia. We got in yesterday afternoon. I did a little detecting this morning and found the following.

I can definitly say I will never get bored pulling miniballs out of the soils here in Virginia. The history and the event make each find for me a memorable event. With each find, my mind just keeps racing back to that period of time wondering what it was like for that person that had to shoot the bullet I just found. It gives me chills each and every time.

The spoon piece appears and feels like pewter. 3 Miniballs and 3 Type II Williams Cleaners. All in all, a good 1 1/2 hour hunt at my friends place.

They were included with each supply of 58 cal. miniballs. They were used to clean the fouling of the barrels. Supposed to shoot 1 of them out of every 10 miniball shot. Not always used by the Union troops as then tended to get stuck in the barrel they were supposed to be cleaning.
