I decided to try the old ferry landing by Watling Bridge today.

This is a nice, historic part of Bermuda. The ferry was horse drawn originally back in the 1800's when the British naval base on Ireland Island was seperate from the main part of Bermuda (which is made up of over 100 islands tightly grouped on top of an ancient volcano).
I thought I would try my luck there in the hopes of finding some nice old goodies.
The day was sunny and the wind was from the right direction to hunt this area so into the little, red car I went.
Beautiful scenery in this area even with Bermuda's largest bridge in the background. The water has warmed up a little so the hunt wasn't a chore but the amount of iron in this area was unbelieveable! Throw in a bunch of aluminium trash and it got difficult quick. I threw out over 3 pounds of white lead, 1 pound of copper sheathing and fittings, plus a bunch of aluminium can remains.
Here's what it looked like:

I got down to it but LOTS of Trash and Iron

The sea cucumbers are back which is a sign of spring in Bermuda (I saw lots of them)

The sea sponges and seafans are growing another good sign (can't wait)

The Loot: a couple of old English pennies and a half penny (WWII vintage), a kewl old salt shaker, the normal clad and some nice shells for the Princess's collection.

That's All Folks,

Yes, all the pics are taken with the same waterproof camera. I use an Olympus Stylus 720SW (shock and waterproof to 10 feet without any special housing) that I carry in the pocket of my treasure hunting jacket. Add an optional housing and it is good to 30 ft.
When I want to shoot underwater I set it for one of 4 underwater settings, topside I have 20 different settings plus video. It is simple to use, just set the camera for what you want to shoot by pushing a button and go. Just remember to rinse it off when you clean your detector, I can't imagine the saltwater is good for it.
I've had it since last summer and I am very happy with it, a good price too!

Cheers,

BDA, Nice pics, looks like a really nice place. Maybe you can post some more of the area with future post. Its good to see sites from the other side or local view. Thanks

in your pocket . They also don't like dust and dirt ....
We've looked at digital video rigs , but didn't think
about underwater video , when we were in the store .... Not that its
necessary , or even something in our planning , but if you're going to
buy something .... it might as well be as versatile as possible .
Its a shame there's so much junk on those beaches .....
Most people could care less , and trash every place they go to .....
Have a great day ...
