I D Edge vs the Coin Strike

BJ in Okla.

Active member
I have been using the Edge for a while, I have a Coin Strike also, but have not used it yet, how do they compare ????
I hunt for old coins, tokens in fresh bladed dirt, old house sites....lots of rusty nails and stuff, tabs to...
I know they both like round rusty washers.....
Depth is not a problem, the stuff is like 2" to 6 or 7" deep.
Thanks for any tips...

Hi BJ,

That is a tough question. As I recall The Coinstrike can be swept a bit faster than the Edge when hunting moderately heavy iron sites and still pick out the deeper co-located targets. Since the age and type of iron can show differences in performance between them, albeit slight, I would try each at a site to see which is the better fit.

Also, if the soil has been turned over (similar to a recently plowed field) the Edge would get the nod from me as the first to get a shot at the site. Hard to explain but it seems to give better more defined hits on co-located targets in those conditions... kind of T2'ish in that regard but with better nuances in the audio to help with the iron falses.

I have run into places that had so much trash, that I could not find a clean spot to GB with my Edge, I would have to walk away from that spot to find a clean spot, do the GB and then come back to where I wanted to hunt....Is this ok or just hunt for a while with Tracking on,,on the CS then switch it off ???
I like the CZ's with manual GB, because I can just put the CZ on 5 and hunt, thats where most places that I hunt GB....

Also, is it best to hunt with Track and Avg. off ????

From what I have read, its best to keep the TH as close to Zero, and lower the Sens to get it stable, right ???

I love my CZ's, but several that I hunt with use CZ's and if the site is small, its hard to keep 75 feet between them...

Thanks.
