I couldn't resist the R2

I was set on getting the new MX sport when they became available. I decided to wait it out to see a few users with field tests first. Meanwhile, I sold a couple things to come up with some cash for my new purchase.
I also liked the features of the new R2. That was my second in line to buy, especially if Makro developed a BIGFOOT style coil for it! I would then sell a couple of my Tesoros with Cleansweeps to make that purchase.
I figured I would still get the MX sport first, because I had to sell my AT pro to help fund it. After seeing a few videos, and listening to the tones, I couldn't bring myself to purchase it yet. The Racer 2 has such beautiful tones ,in comparison, and has about every option I could want in a detector.(with the exception of being waterproof) The blendy tones, fast response, light weight, well built, iron volume, adjustable tone break, auto tracking, notch filter, and the list keeps going!
I am not saying the MX Sport does not have a lot of great features, because it does, and I may still end up purchasing one down the road. I just hate the sound of the tones. I still have an xcal 2 for the water, so not like I have to run out and buy another water unit right now.
Who knows, maybe there is something waterproof coming down the pipe from Makro. For now I decided to pull the trigger on the RACER 2.

I was looking at the MX Sport as well before I decided on the R2. I have been a Whites fan for years but they seem to have developed a sorta lag I don't care for. I've tried the V3i, VX3 and saw the samw lag on the videos of the MX Sport. I have been patiently wanting on my R2 for near a month now. I sold my AT Pro to buy the R2 and the AT Pro was my tot lot machine. I have been stuck using my E-Trac. Just got through doing a tot lot run of 8 tot lots/4 hours and my arm now feels like rubber. Come on R2.

I am really looking forward to using both the Racer 2 and MX Sport. The Racer 2 as a great "all the time" urban detector but for jewelry hunting in particular. The MX Sport is looking more like a special use detector. Every detector is good at something if put to the right uses.

looking forward to your report on the R2 Steve, mine is on order also. Will be interesting to see if it supercedes my G2+ as my
Urban detector of choice....and ring finder....

I'm kind of in the same boat. Been using a Tesoro Tiger Shark for fresh water hunting so I thought about getting the MXSport to replace it. Then the announcement of the R2. Decided I had to have one, even though I already have two R1's. Placed my order for the R2 and was told I'm low enough on the list to get one out of the first batch received. Now I have to decide if I'm still going to get the MXSport. I do like the 8" coil on the Tiger Shark for detecting between the rocks.
