Headed out today, starting off at a couple snow hills. Pretty slim pick'ns, so I headed out to the woods, far away from downtown. Way out here, in the middle of nowhere, I get this signal in true all metal mode, VDI in the 60's and no iron grunt, as I had it set to about 38, iron audio turned on. There, in the dirt, was a gold object. I pulled it out and it was a 10K gold with a huge black onyx stone on it. I swear the snow started melting where I stood I was so excited!:surprised:

Here's the finds for the day. A nice ring, two flashlights, an old 7- up bottle and a little loot. What a great day!

Wow. A real beauty that is. 2 Flashlights in a single hunt in the middle of nowhere ??? Was the ring on the surface ? There is no way I can dig anything anywhere at this time so I envy you. The ground is like concrete and covered in layers of thick snow and ice everywhere.

The flashlights were on a hill, where people toboggan. Sun sets at about 4;30 in the afternoon in Dec.- Jan., so a lot of people bring flashlights along to go down the hills in the dark. The ring was about 5 inches deep. Some of the ground is still sort of diggible in the woods, if it has a thick humus layer. The ring was found on a small hillside under some green moss.
