Well, the coin gods must be having alot of fun at my expense. Went to a fairly hunted out spot and got a ringing 12-45 44. I dig it and out comes a merc on the "heads" side. I check the date...1916...hmmm this is it, I thought, a 1916 d! I turned it over..no mint mark UGH!!!! It was the only keeper and it was a sweltering 90 degree day. ah well a silver is a silver :) On another note, I should have my 17 inch coil by next weekend and do I have a surprise planned for you guys lol

I'll be very interested to see what you think and how you do with the 17" coil. I used a 15x12 SEF on my E-trac all last summer and did extremely well in all types of environments.

Calm down.. Take a deep breath.. Enjoy getting out.. I find that once I start trying to compete with myself all of the enjoyment is gone..

That said, we are all different, you may just be kidding around.. So have at it..

I am anxious to hear how you do with the 17 incher... I had kindly asked some people with them to do a bench test for depth but didn't get any responders.
I have the 6 inch coil on the way and I am anxious to see how that does..

I am just kidding around. my life is filled with with let-downs like that so i am used to it. anyway what I have in mind will greatly help ppl here see just how good the 17" is.

Poor Beyonder... Do you need a hug :poke:

I am curious to see what you have planned!

GK did you order the lower rod and hardware with the coil? I tried to remove the lower rod from detector to put a protective wrapped on my cable and couldn't get it apart. I know you have to turn it to line the key up. It turns easily but will not come apart.

I am not big on larger coils than what comes with your detector. I used a 17" coil on an Etrac for 2 years on and off. Did not see much of a difference in finds compared to the stock coil. Depth gain also not noticeable. After weighing the extra weight of the coil I decided to sell it. The good news everyone is looking for a nicely priced used larger coil.Got a 90% return.

Only used my 17 once, wasn't a disappointment , did give up a few bits, however have now got to wait for the crops to be harvested. I used it withmy detectingbuddy bungee but it wasn't very comfortable, so have ordered another type. It is a weight without one. I also found I had to lower the sensitivity quite a it when using it.

Hi Duke
I didn't. It took me a couple seconds to figure out how to get it out. You have to have the coil at 90 degrees see the attached photo. I also had the cam lock in the unlocked position

If I bought another coil, I think I'd get the rod with it. I think it would be a quicker swap out in the field.

it only comes out 1 way. if it is not coming out, you need to turn the shaft 180 degrees. If you can't get it, I'll take my shaft off and let you know exactly how I did it. I have all 3 coils with 3 separate shafts.

$175 for an extra shaft

I appreciate the insight. Thanks.

I am NOT spending that for a shaft....

Unfortunately all the CTX stuff is priced SKY high. Hopefully that will change in the future. Probably won't change until 3rd party manufacturers can get in on the act though IMHO.
