I caught a thief in my...

spiritual house this week trying to steal my peace. Although I may write as if my life is this beautiful utopia filled with butterflies and rainbows, it's far from that. I'm sure all of you know what I'm talking about too concerning your own lives.

Last Friday we had another round of layoffs in my department. This week, more people are getting laid off. Our department is under duress, and many are only focusing on the storm going on all around them which is causing internal strife. We have people jockeying for positions, back biting, verbal abuse, you know, normal work stuff.

And then I had a Peter moment that started on Wednesday afternoon until this morning. I noticed I had moved my eyes ever so slightly. What happens when we take our eyes off of Jesus? Yup, we SINK. FAST! So, although the enemy might not be KILLING you at the moment or DESTROYING you or your life he may well be trying to slyfully STEAL from you. Things such as your Peace. I woke up this morning feeling blah and I said, "You know what Satan, I command all of my problems to go straight into the Atlantic Ocean never to return!" Matthew 17:20 reads: He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

"Name it, claim it and retain it"! That's our salvation in Jesus! I'm going to be at Peace today while the storm rages, and I might even take a nap. :)

Oh, I saw on another forum where they posted pictures of families and I thought it was a neat idea. I don't Facebook, so I figured I'd share my family with all of you. (That's the "Maple Syrup Man" in the middle" :) )

God Bless and God Speed everyone!

Greg

Thanks Greg,
Like you, I can sense when somethings not right with my heart and mind. We all tend to wander, from time to time, and it brings so much peace when God's Holy Spirit nudges us softly to let us know we've misplaced our focus. Thanks for sharing and thanks too for the beautiful family photo. It's really nice to put a face with whom we've been sharing our thoughts.

Thank you for sharing Greg. Great pic too.

It so easy (at least for me) to glance away from the Lord. But when you are focused there is nothing better!
Great looking family by the way!

You have a very nice looking family. Thank you for reaching out and guiding me in my endeavors. I wish you and your family well. I too, during my work history have experienced exactly what you are going thru. You yourself have the faith and belief to weather any storm.

Hope you like it here.
God bless

Wonderful looking Family! You are blessed! You try to be the beacon of light in that darkness..you try to give hope to the hopeless...its hard on lots of folks now adays, listen to the Spirit, theres somebody there that needs you...and you need to be ready give them hope. I pray a hedge of protection around you and your family as you go into the daily battleground.
A lot of people have their own self esteem wrapped up in their job, its all they have, and when that is threatened or gone, its tough on them...some contemplate suicide, I pray you see the signs and introduce that person to Jesus. You look like your used to battle, and buddy, you are in one now!

Thanks for sharing your life with us Greg. We all have battles but not all of us are honest enough to spell it all out.

Thus comments like yours are enlightening and helpful to all of us when we may suddenly realise that we are brothers and sisters in fault, not in virtue.

Our only hope is in Jesus.

Lovely pic of the family.

God's word says to be aware of satan, who goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour and he uses sly, sneaky ways to enter our homes and destroy the peace that we have when taking our eyes off Jesus and start worrying about our problems that God will take care of in Jesus' name when we pray and allow Him to do so without our interference of trying to help the situation all by ourselves! The world makes messes and God cleans them up when we pray, trust and lean on Him! Prayers for you and your job to be kept safe from being laid off and to be encouraged to keep faith in Jesus and in God working all things together for the good to them who love God and are the called according to His purpose! God never fails....but human-beings with weak flesh do when the lusts of the flesh get in the way and we submit to our weaknesses...satan hits us where we are the weakest but with Jesus we win and satan doesn't by our obeying God's will and plan for each of us! Amen!

Thanks for the pic of your nice, looking family! Jesus and families are precious but satan comes to steal, kill and destroy....but let us not let him do so, for Greater is God in us than satan is in the world! Amen! Ma

Thanks for sharing! You have a beautiful family!

Update: My friend Chris and I survived this round of layoff's along with another one of our friends Maggie in another department. I am sorry to say though, over 100 people were not as fortunate. We were also told that this would "probably" be it for 2013.

I would like to thank all of you for your heartfelt comments and prayers. I know how powerful prayer can be and I am very appreciative and Blessed for those of you who have been thinking and praying for my family.

May each and every one of you have a Peaceful and safe Sunday of worship! Again, thank you and God Bless!

Greg & Alissa

I am happy that you survived the layoffs, but am saddened that your 100 co-workers were not. Hopefully this year , your business will increase and your co-workers re-called. Have a great day.

Greg,
I'm very happy that your job is save for this year. Hopefully your work will rebound so they can re-hire some of the people that were let go.

Greg, good job putting on the full armor of God and noticing the enemies tactics!
I myself failed Sunday and was beaten by a defeatist attitude that the Devil helped
create in me, burdened by extreme taxes and a lack of money to keep our heads above
water resulting in me blowing of steam and everyone in my path falling victim to that blow off.
I pray for prudence to see this kind of attack, and the will to fall away from it instead of falling
into it! Thank you brother for posting. Please Lord give all you followers wisdom and help guide
and protect us from the evil one and his schemes in Jesus Precious name I pray God bless you and yours Greg
P.S. great picture
George
