That with all the members we have here, only one person contacted me about my post referring to the CP-250 probe. There must be more people that have some input ( good or bad ) about these pointers that they would like to share.

I wouldn't want one as my sole pointer, but thought it would be a good compliment to my arsenal where the ground is soft and it would do a lot less damage to lawns where one could have been used.

OK guys/gals help me out here......Thanks. :help:

Ok...you asked.

I googled it and saw a video. I'd never spend any money on one. You are better off with a Uniprobe or a ProPointer or a Sunray. Get a plain screwdriver to stick in the dirt. If you use a thin enough shank (about 1/16th to 1/8" ) it will give you enough "feel" to tell the difference between rocks, coins, and even foil)

If you are really interested in electronic cache probes, see if you can find a Periscope.

I bought a cp-200 two years ago thinking it would be handy to pinpoint valuable metals and ignore the iron which it does,BUT it has to practically touch a good target before it will give a signal rendering it practically useless!DBULL

Mike,

Re the above highlighted, what are your thoughts regarding the best material for the handle, so as not to reduce or deaden the feel ?

Thanks,

Todd
