I bought two junky Go Karts for a chance at detecting...

OK, I'm always on the lookout for a great place to hunt. (Who isn't?)

Long story short: I'm putting together a go kart for my son. I see an ad on CL for two kart frames, misc. engines and tires. The pic isn't that good so I go over to the guys house in the pitch black and the karts have been pieced up and welded on and kind of butchered, but there were some good parts there. I'm thinking I'll make an offer on some parts and leave the rest.

As we go through the house to get to the garage to look at the engines, he starts telling me how the house was built in 1908, was the first house built on American Lake (Lakewood WA) and was a resort and the owner sold bait out of his front window through the late 1950's. The safe he used to store the cash is still in the cabinet by the window!

Well, my heart skips a beat and I forget all about go karts, and I start talking metal detectors. I offer to show him how they work and bring an extra for him to use. He is a little interested, so I don't push it. I offer to buy half the stuff and come back Sunday to buy the rest, hoping I can bring a detector and show him.

Before I leave, he tells me, "When you come back tomorrow, bring your detector."

Believe me.... I won't forget!

I'll post finds as I am able.
