I bought a Tiger Shark the other day

Since the price of gold is sky high! I thought I would try my luck in the fresh water ponds and lake's here in Illinois.
I haven't owned a Tesoro since the Toltec 100 first came out. If the T. Shark is as good on low conductive targets
as the 100 I will be happy!

I been useing the tiger shark since 2005 and I did well with it in the fresh water when I lived in Mississippi Now I live in Virginia I haven done that well with it in the salt water at the beach very Good in fresh water

Thats what I'm going to use the Tiger Shark for! Freshwater...I know where to get a 10.5 inch coil for it...
Is it worth having one? Duggr

What makes it so bad for salt? Are we talking wet sand hunting bad or immersed bad? If one of you could share it would be helpful. I am also a fresh water guy, but figured it would be "ok" as a wet sand or shallow water salt hunter. Please let me know your experiences.

Thanks, Don

I used my Tiger Shark few two times in the sea. I had to turn down the sensitivity, so that I reduced the chatter a bit. My unit would not groundbalance in the water and I had to send it back due to a bent GB pot shaft (most probably caused by the overseas transport). I do not have it back yet so I do not know if it groundbalances in the water at all or if it was just a faulty unit. I was finding coins down to some 6" in the water. The targets are easily heard amongst the falsings but you cannot hunt for "whispers" (or maybe I just was not patient enough). I used to have a Fisher 1280x and I feel that the TigerShark performs better in the salt water.

If you wonder why I use fresh water machines in the sea - I live inlands and do plan to detect fresh water lakes and streams around. I can get into salt water just one or two times a year.

I've been using a TS for several years and find it to be a very good machine but not the best on wet salt beaches nor in salt water. In the wet salt it chatters quite a bit and requires turning down sensitivity and playing with the threshold which still does not eliminate the noise. However I have found items in the wet it's just that the chatter really starts to get on my nerves and I think a machine better suited to the environment would perform better. In the dry salt sand it's excellent as it is in freshwater and soil. Since I now do most of my hunting on saltwater beaches I'm going to buy a sandshark but hang onto the TS for other areas.

Yes i got a Tiger Shark and it Loves GOLD!!!! I hunt is fresh water, This weekend will try the ocean???
But i got Her 4R the Fresh, Mickfin

Does Tejoro make a good salt water machine?

I guess the Sand Shark would probably be about it as far as tesoro's go. Is the sand shark worth the money?
