I am shocked..................................

................ after waitng all this time for Tesoro to produce a new detector.............................they didn't provide a competitor for the new Garrett ID unit or something that could compete with the Target ID Fisher's or Teknetics!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, their ID units are so long in the tooth.I'm dissapointed as a loyal Tesoro user that Target ID is not on the radar at Tesoro.l a new flagship detector oppurtunity was missed. So sad.

There is no question they are better than the competition already. As Ivan stated, there ID detectors are getting old and outdated. Tesoro is capable of building the detector we all want, but I think they need new blood in the R&D department. Someone like Dave Johnson from First Texas.
Let him design something lightweight, with a flat screen and large display, with CZ depth and Tesoro's quality.......

I think some of ya got things backwards, Fisher/Garrett/Teknetics/etc. have got the catching up to do. Sure they have the fancy meters, push buttons/knobs galore, but the one thing they can't do any better or many of them as well is finding targets in the ground. :tesoro::thumbup:

P.S. Not trying to be a wise guy but Tesoro already has two metered detectors the Cortes and the DeLeon, those of you wanting a tid why not use one of these. I am sure they are just fine machines.

I agree I have been using the DeLeon since it came out and have never been disapointed yet if Tesoro does not have what u want there is always Brand X with higher prices and sub par support and warranties!

The only reason I even own a Tesoro detector is because they make a coil size I need that no one else produces. And since I need that one particular coil size I have to use one of their machines. And the only machine Tesoro makes that is useful to me to use for that one coil is the Golden uMax and even then I only use that detector/coil combo for shallow targets. I guarantee you that if Fisher/Tek/Bounty Hunter made that coil size I'd drop my Tesoro in a heartbeat and never look back because they don't have any else to offer me. They can't give me better performance, faster recovery speed or better depth or more useful features. Not yet anyway cause they are still too busy producing units that loose depth the minute you raise the disc to knock out iron, twiddle units for target id, dis-assemble for ground balance in disc, woodchip machines.

I've used a lot of Tesoro trying to make them work for me; four different Cortes units, three different Tejons, several Golden Sabre versions, several Golden uMaxes, Pantera, and others I can't remember now and they just couldn't perform. So I'm limit to one Tesoro machine on one coil for shallow targets. I have to go to other mfgs for everything else. So yes, I'm disappointed about this new Outlaw. Yes, I'm still hopeful that they'll release something useful to me besides a coil.

You are one of the few people that I have heard that has anti-Tesoro soil. Not sure where you live but for me up here where I am my soil & Tesoro and their coils go together like music and sound. And I don't think its just me h**p://metaldetectorreviews.net/tesoro.htm

I'm not sure how many of the posters in all the threads relating to the Outlaw have actually used the machine, but as none have claimed to have used it that I have seen (besides the one who wrote the "field test") I have to presume that none have used it.
My question is: If you haven't used a machine, how do you know how it will perfrom for you, and how do you know how it will compare with any other machines? (I guess that's 2 questions).
We've been told what features it has, and we have been told what coils come with it....all the rest is conjecture.

Yeah I don't get it for the past few years all I have heard is Tesoro needs a new machine over and over and now they have come out with one and we hear they should do this or they should have done that. Can't we be happy that a American company with quality American products has come out with another horse in their stable to choose from. For my money I will only own Tesoro!

I really do like the new Golden and enjoy it. It is a good tool for me.

I'm going to take a break from the Tesoro forum for a while. No need for me to get so emotionally involved in something that is susposed to be fun.

It is fun, enjoy your break, see ya when you return..

Yeah, I can't get into the depth thing and I guess that's why the Tesoros work for me. Deeper than 6" takes the fun out of it for me. And the areas I search-I can't imagine a target going deeper than a couple of inches in a week or even a month. I know that sounds like a classic excuse, but I had the CZ-5 and enjoyed it for a while until it collapsed my arm because of the weight.

Why didn't you hip or chest mount your CZ?

"producing units that loose depth the minute you raise the disc to knock out iron"

Don't know if you have used the Varquero, but I have found that it looses very little depth (almost none up to 5 cents) and only an inch and a half or so at max discrimination.

Super tuned I sometimes dig dimes at 9-10 inches so I think thats pretty good for a linear discrimination MD.

Maybe I'm just lucky or my mild ground is just right for the V, but I'm happy.

I'm finding that tones and more so a VID just give me more excuses not to dig.

Good Hunting,
Denny

PS

Although I would not mind having just a low tone on iron ( like the Euro Sabre) if Tesoro asked me.

Well I had planned on getting a Blisstool for bad ground, but I just can't go for the $100 or more every time you send it in for a warranty issue. 20% of what I like about Tesoros is the warranty. Maybe the Outlaw won't dig deep in bad ground, but I'll give it a try.

I tried that. Every time I had to bend over and retrieve, the back of the unit dug into my side. And the coil wire was always in the way. Even a homemade version of the Swingy thingy was cumbersome. And the discriminate was not accurate enough for me-especially with mixed spills. But gosh, it was awesome on depth.

Probably because Slingshot is like me----just doesn't like to hip or chest mount a detector housing---and I can't stand being "tethered" to a machine with a bungy cord like a dog on a leash.-----To each his own, do whatever ya like & what you feel works best for you.---------Del

For some people ID is not necessary, I'm finding more since I moved to the beep and dig Tesoros
