Sent my Excal 1000 in for headphone r&r on 02/27, 2 day shipping and they tell me that they will not even be able to look at it till the end of this week, which means that I will have another week down waiting for a simple repair. UNACCEPTABLE! Guess I will have to buy 2 of those too so I will not have to twiddle my thumbs waiting for a repair! Did not like the idea of everything hard wired in to begin with because if you break something you are down. If you have a malfunction on the Garrett headphones or coil you simply have them swapped out and you are back in business. I AIN'T HAPPY!
 
I can admit when I have perhaps been too hasty in my anger towards Minelab. They just called me back and told me they will try to have the Excal out to me by the weekend. If it gets here I will be happy, but I appreciated them calling me to let me know that they are on the case, that's cool! I'm happier!

THEN BUY A SET OF WATERPROOF GRAYGHOSTS FOR A SPARE
 
That is one of the main reasons my Excalibur sits it the garage most of the time. I got tire of waiting for Minelabs to fix it. Mine has had the card replaced twice. all the knobs had inserts made of steel and promptly rusted covering the case with oxidation and locking to the plastic housing. It was really a poorly made item. The electronics worked well when there was no RF interference such as what is caused by cell phones or hotel security systems. I have a difficult locating a place to hunt where that is not a prevaling condition.
 
They repaired the unit and I got it back as I was told it would be. I no longer have an issue with them. Have found much gold & silver with that fine unit.
