This new CTX 3030 at first had me wowed. But the more I analyze it and take into consideration, cost, weight, battery use, Minelabs stellar warranty service ( sarcasm). I think I will wait around to see what else comes down the pike from any of the other manufactures. It would be wise if you are on the fence to wait a year for all the bugs to get sorted out. Minelab may appear to have taken a leap forward. But in my opinion it has taken a leap backwards with that huge cordless drill battery pack. I know ergonomics can go a long way in detector comfort and weight distribution. My GT weighs a ton, but my new plugger rod that keeps the control box at shoulder height goes a long way in good ergonomics and weight distribution.
This machine I am sure is great. But I will not be the one to pay the $$ to give it a trial run. I could get one today if I wanted. But priorities of life, and home ownership tell me to sit back and wait. I am not slamming the machine because it most likely costs a ton of cash. It is just that the future TO ME, should involve something featherweight. I have said in many of my posts through the years that battery size, weight, and consumption are very important factors. I think that a monster truck is awesome and would be king of the road. But is it practical and comfortable for all my driving activities?
