After hundreds of shipments both big and small using UPS, Fed Ex, and the USPS, I am done using the post office. Three times in the last five years, I had shipments either stolen or lost. All three times I did not insure the item because they were small and extremely well packed. But,the best packed item cannot be protected from thieves or incompetent employees. Once a coil I shipped two hundred miles was not delivered and after dozens of calls and weeks of worry, it was found in a lost bin one thousand miles from where it was shipped. My local post office tracked it there and I was assured it would be returned to me within the week. That was 13 months ago and it is lost again. The final straw was a recent Priority mail shipment I made a week ago. I shipped and insured a small box with a pinpointer to Tennessee which is a two day journey from my home in northeast Ohio. I followed the shipment via tracking numbers to within 50 miles of the person buying the item. For no sound reason, the box was returned to the original sorting station a hundred miles from my home. I was furious and my post office said it was being returned to me because of an invalid shipping address. I have sent mail to this person before and I called him to verify his home address. It was his personal residence. This am I rechecked the tracking and it was back in Memphis Tn. This was after I was told it was coming back to me in Ohio. My head was spinning! This was the same sorting station that could not get it to the guy 50 miles away. I was waiting to see if the @#$holes would be able to read and ship the box to the guy up the road. Well after a week and two trips around the east, the two day shipment was delivered. Say what you want about UPS and Fed Ex, but I have never had anything lost, stolen, or five days late. Sorry for the rant, but I now know why the Post Office is going bankrupt.
