I Am Done With the USPS

RLOH

Well-known member
After hundreds of shipments both big and small using UPS, Fed Ex, and the USPS, I am done using the post office. Three times in the last five years, I had shipments either stolen or lost. All three times I did not insure the item because they were small and extremely well packed. But,the best packed item cannot be protected from thieves or incompetent employees. Once a coil I shipped two hundred miles was not delivered and after dozens of calls and weeks of worry, it was found in a lost bin one thousand miles from where it was shipped. My local post office tracked it there and I was assured it would be returned to me within the week. That was 13 months ago and it is lost again. The final straw was a recent Priority mail shipment I made a week ago. I shipped and insured a small box with a pinpointer to Tennessee which is a two day journey from my home in northeast Ohio. I followed the shipment via tracking numbers to within 50 miles of the person buying the item. For no sound reason, the box was returned to the original sorting station a hundred miles from my home. I was furious and my post office said it was being returned to me because of an invalid shipping address. I have sent mail to this person before and I called him to verify his home address. It was his personal residence. This am I rechecked the tracking and it was back in Memphis Tn. This was after I was told it was coming back to me in Ohio. My head was spinning! This was the same sorting station that could not get it to the guy 50 miles away. I was waiting to see if the @#$holes would be able to read and ship the box to the guy up the road. Well after a week and two trips around the east, the two day shipment was delivered. Say what you want about UPS and Fed Ex, but I have never had anything lost, stolen, or five days late. Sorry for the rant, but I now know why the Post Office is going bankrupt.

USPS is terrible. Workers are just plain NO HELP..Nor do they care.

Lady at post office told me it was my problem not hers............... I asked if she was serious She said Yep..Your loss. USPS does not guarantee delivery. So I am pretty sure it's gone.

I was told to leave the post office as I had my answer. She said I was holding up the line... SO No More USPS for me..............

My cousin works for an aftermarket auto parts distributor. They only use USPS when they absolutely have to.

And they will try to convince customers who request USPS to use another carrier or insure the shipment.

Too many "lost items" for them. Even after going to "plain brown wrapper" shipping boxes.

Sure hope so as the item shipped can not be replaced..............

RLOH I feel for you....

In the last year, I have had several packages that have ended up at the wrong destination. I have a good friend that lives in Minnesota. I live in CT. In one particular case, I mailed out a priority package to this good friend. After a week it still had not arrived. I finally contacted USPS and they tracked the package to a little town in California lol. I just shook my head. It took over two weeks for my friend to finally receive what was left of the priority box. The whole thing was smashed and the contents started to fall out!!! Overpaid, uncaring business. I am with you Elton - in another case I went to my local post office to inquire as to where a money order was. They basically told me I was sh*t out of luck. However, for $5.00 they could try and place a tracer and try to locate and see if it was cashed. I could go on and on but I think people will get the jist. Now I avoid them as much as possible.

Hey Elton, I hope they can hang onto the package and deliver to its real destination.

Well package damaged and item busted up on delivery NO MORE POST OFFICE !!!!

I know they dont update their tracking as often as they should. Ive got a detector should be arriving today, like to be home when a new detector is delivered, and the last tracking update was done two days ago so Im still not sure if its out for delivery..........so I may be waiting at home for nothing today.
Fedex and ups tracking is better.
as far as damaged packages, Ive been lucky, only ups delivered one beat up and that was years ago.

see pic below of the Post Offices great package handling .....

Isn't that just "Beautiful" ... NOT !!

Sorry to see this Elton.

I just hope the post office can get the refund check back to the buyer with out it being lost..

FedEx in my area is the WORST! we don't have a local FedEx terminal (ground Terminal) and they have left me shipments on my porch that if it hadn't ad a roof I would swear they Air Dropped It from about 10,000 feet.
The box was destroyed, parts of the packed item was sticking out through the sides of the box, they were patched holes in the box that had at lest two rolls of carton tape forming these huge Band-Aids. It was an air compressor, and on the box it had huge arrows point to This Side Up, they were upside down.

Another time I had ordered a set of front struts for my Ford Focus, they were a signed delivery, I never got them? I called and they said I signed for them?? I did not! they never turned up!, they never made it to my house.

Then there was a Handgun I had sent back to the company for repair under warranty, they claimed to have tried to deliver it but no one was home?? Oh, really I said, I ask what time and what day was this, they told me and both me and the wife were home then. They said well the driver left a un-deliverable message at your resident, No They Did Not! I found out later that the FedEx service had been out of them for quite sometime. I tracked it down in a terminal in the next boarding state and caught it just as it was being loaded up to be send back! all in a two day period.

I just got a NEW radiator for the wifes van the other day, OMG it came FedEx, you would not have believed the condition of the box, so I promptly opened it and inspected it the best I could, its looks usable, but I'm glad it didn't have to travel another ten miles with them.

In my area USPS or UPS is the only way to go! I've never had a problem with either! now I will admit that the Female FedEx drivers are really good Eye Candy, maybe they should go to work for Hooters, because package delivery isn't one of there finer points.

Even my grandkids refer to FedEx as TrashEx.
