I am considering buying an excalibur.

Hey ekulrac, I have been using the EXCALIBUR for over (5)yrs., and I have (3) of them, and a FISHER CZ-20. I haven't used the CZ-20 in (3)yrs., even though it is also an excellent underwater detector. As a matter of fact, I have (3) EXCALs, and that is (1) too many. But, in response to your post, the EXCAL is my FAVORITE BEACH/WATER Detector, because of the built-in Iron Mask. You hardly ever dig any steel or iron screws/nails/bottle caps. Also, the multiple tone ID is the BEST OUT THERE!! Once, you learn the tones, and it will take you awhile to learn the tones. You can pretty much, guess what you are about to recover with alot of accuracy, but NOT EVERYTIME.
It is also the only True Turn-On/Go Underwater Beach Detector out there, because you do not have to ground balance it. If you decide on an EXCAL, make sure you buy one of the aftermarket STRAIGHT SHAFTS for PROLONGED COMFORTABLE DETECTING TIME!! You will not regret it. If you are decide on an EXCAL, and want to buy a used one,
I have a COMPLETELY REFURBISHED UNIT for sale. Just scroll down to page 3, look for Completely REFURBISHED EXCALIBUR, dated 12/27/05, read the post. If interested, or have any questions, feel free to call me. BEST OF LUCK, whatever you decide, hh,

Forgot to state, that you have to go to the Used Metal Detecting Equipment Forum, then scroll down to page#3, and look for the post dated 12/27/05.

I bought a used unit and I am extremely happy with it. I owned a single VLF unit that was good but did not discriminate as well as the Excal. I got it in April 2005 and, 30 gold rings later, I can't complain.

<b>Not only is it a great beach and lake unit,
but here's something else it's great for that most don't think of.
When it's really raining hard I put on rain gear and grab the excal and go relic hunting.
It is a fantastic relic machine when the ground is real wet.
Since it's waterproof I don't have top worry about it and just wash off all the mud later.

Good luck
HH
