Found this nugget last week in Arizona with my MXT:clapping:

Welcome back.:detecting:
Good to see you posting and detecting again.
Nice chunk of yellow.

Wow there must be close to an ounce of gold there! Whites should send you one of each of their detectors to promote for them, lol.

Beautiful nugget Bob and welcome back.

Thanks, the weight was 41.8 grams = 1.47 oz

:yikes:Holy cow!! Is this normal for you!?!? Thats amazzzing!:please:

No! just a lucky find most of the time I just find small pickers:yikes:

There is alot of quartz in it.

Welcome back to the forum Bob. It's so good to hear from you and what an amazing find. Did you have to change your pants? I would have! Again, welcome back friend and HH, Nancy

I've heard that natural nuggets have more value than their weight in gold, unless of course it had more quarts than gold. But this one looks to be nearly all gold. Rememnids me of the fist size nuggets found in Aussie.

thise one is about half quartz, I had the best side up, but your right it is better to leave it in the quartz. it is a great specimen and I plan to just put it in a glass case, its a very rare and lucky find. I have been prospecting for over tweenty years and have never found a nugget of this size. But this did give me that old feeling again that i had when i first started prospecting in the mid 80's ( GOD FEVER ) :surprised:

Bob, great looking nugget, at what depth did you find the nugget and with what coil, just curious?

I was using the MXT with a Whites Eclipse DD 6x10 coil....that is the coil I use most of the time. and it was just under the sand and gravel about 3" deep. I was just off the Hwy 17 in Arizonia by a little town of Bumble Bee. I was only about 40 feet off the Hwy when I found it. Thats what I say it was a very lucky find. And probaly nobody swings a detector that close to the Hwy.:detecting:

No rattlesnakes? This time of year, that area is loaded with the bitting worms. One must be careful. Congratulations on a once in a lifetime find!

Come to think of it, I thought I saw a sparkle off the side of the road when driving down from Flagstaff! ;) Great find and HH, Nancy
