Just new to forum. I bought an etrac 3 weeks ago after some intense studying on the forums. Wow was that the right move. I have been detecting since the early 80's. Started out with the old metal box Garrett coin commander & moved to the new plastic box coin commander. I could peg a coin by sound every time & could out hunt about any other machine that was out with me. A year ago I bought an Ace 250. Found some nice coins but all were in new areas.

Back in the early 80's I found a spot through research & here say where an early park was in our city that few people new about. Myself & a few choice friends hunted hard & pulled a 100 + coins out as well as some nice jewellery. This place yielded a watch vob for the re-election of Taft to an 1853 half dime and so on. It was just one of extraordinary sites you dream about. After about 6 months of hard hunting we were getting noticed & other detectorist started showing up. At this point the finds were becoming non existing. I have observed detecting in this area on & off for the last 20 some years. I do believe we were the first to hit this spot.

Can you guess where I am going with this? (remember I just bought an etrac) I have gone to this site at least 6 times a year for the last 20 + years trying to pull just one missed item with ZERO return. I was even digging the trash in hopes. I searched the steep banks, undergrowth & anywhere that I thought no one would go on this site. I spent 2 full days with the Ace 250 with not a find. The Ace 250 never felt right because I couldn't analyze any sounds but it did peg some coins in some new sites & some were rather deep.

OK, etrac time. In order to get a feel for the etrac I loaded the Andy S. coin program & headed to some fresh spots. Found a few nice coins including some rather deep Mercury dimes that impressed me. After 5 days it was time to head to the old magic spot. I spent 3 hours with absolutely no results. I really thought the magic was gone and we and others had tapped it dry.

NOW LET'S TALK TTF. 3 days ago I went back after reading about and setting up TTF.
First 30 min. I hit a 1919 wheat. There were four 2.5 inch rusted nails in the hole. Six feet from there I hit a 1911 Barber dime. Could not believe it. Went back the next night after work & boom, found a 1934 wheat, a 1915 S key date Barber dime & a late 1800's Oakland Traction Co. Streetcar Conductors uniform button. I'm over 2,000 miles from Oakland CA??? Tonight I found a 1916 Mercury. I have only hunted about a 50' X 50' area and there is 5 acres to go.

I spent an hour the first night digging some falsing from nails until I caught on. The good signals stood out and the numbers made sense through the surrounding trash. One of the penny's seemed too easy and was not crowded by trash. That was a bit odd because I know I had swung that spot probably 100 times over the years.

Bravo to the etrac. I still can't believe what I am seeing come out of this site. This is like starting over. I will be going every evening until the ground freezes. Anybody that doesn't own an etrac is welcome to come along. For reference the pennies chimed in @ 11 36 when crossed right & the dimes were 10 44 to 12 44 with the ferrous a little erratic. The brass button was 11 38 & was about quarter size.

I am making a list of my other so called hunted out spots for future reference especially the iron infested ones.

I may be a while at the one I'm at.

I'll keep you posted.
