get a good sturdy scoop????? very important

manual sensitivity................set at noon on the clock face if it does not false tooo much, most run at 1 or 2

no discrimination - volume to suit.......but, kinda loud..........threshold..........everyone has different opions about this...............when the waves are noisey i like to hear it good. u need to be able to hear it kinda strong................after awhile, u will know why........(part of the drill)

keep coil on the sand................swing level..............throw coil cover in trash

stay wet.............most of the time..........from real damp to real wet

no problems

this is just my meager take on it

what state and what beach will u be taking this gold from??

(Starting at the top and working down)

Disc = 1 (Fully counterclockwise)

Sensitivity = 12 oclock, 11 oclock if it will run stable...that's where I run it...if you need to, reduce it to 12 oclock.

Volume = I like mine about 3/4's up.

Threshold = Slight buzzing, not too loud...enough that you can hear it well is all you need.

Disc mode, of course...so you have the variable tones.

And then just keep the coil flat, sweep slow and methodically, and listen for that threshold to break to tip you off to the really deep ones. Anything a foot or less will sing out pretty good. And as Max likes to say, "Learn to speak Chinese!"
