HYBRID 9 VOLT BATTERIES

HOT OFF THE PRESSES, I have been searching for these kinds of batteries for some time , the reason, I use HYBRIDS in all of my cameras and you will not believe the length of time they give before needing a recharge, they come precharged and I would advise you to charge for at least 14 hours the first time and then charge after a few uses to keep them working at full performance.I typed into EBAY search HYBRID 9 VOLT BATTERIES and found several RAYOVAC Ones priced at about $7.00 plus $7.00 postage which seems a hell of a lot but with the performabnce you will get out of these you will be more than compensated for the cost. let me know how you go.

Has anyone looked into using Lipoly batteries? Lithium Polymer, They last longer than any other batteries. I used them on my Radio Controlled Flying planes. The NiMH (nickel metal hydrite) batteries lasted around 10-15 minutes and were very heavy, like lead weights. The lipolies lasted more than 30 minutes while being light as a feather literally, and I still had more juice left but I was getting tired after 30 min. and this is at full throttle most of the flight.

Lipoly's are sold in Hobby Stores. They come with their own charger and they are dangerous if over or undercharged.

You probably could go metal detecting for more than a day on those. They come in a variety of sizes. I am sure one would fit in the 9 volt case. By the way, their connectors are different and would need to be modified to fit the 9 volt connector, but that's an easy one.

MORE INFORMATION The technology used in these batteries is advanced NMH technology which means that they can be used straight out of the package but need a very long charge the first time, they have no memory effect which means that they can be charged anytime, they last three times more than NMH batteries, can be charged for at least 500 times.

The problem with any lithium rechargeables is that they need a specific (EXPENSIVE) charger unless you want to monitor the charge manually. (like I'm doing)
Li-ion rechargeables like 120-300mA for 10hrs the first charge, then they like more current and less charge time (5hrs@300mA) until they get happy with 90min @500mA.
My plan is to do a real world test between the Energizer Recharge NiMH, Maximal Power Li-ion and a Duracell standard coppertop in my Cibola.
Just got one of these for $9 on ebay and gave it the first charge. Will post results soon.

Well, they took my link off for the 9v rechargeable 1200mAh, hmmm.... just a matter of time before they take....

When charging lipolys they come in many flavours., There are the simple ones that are called 2S and 3S which is 2 cell or 3 cell. Not sure what a 9 volt is suppose to be. My lipolys charge in less than 1/2 hour on a small compact charger specifically made for the 3S - I am not using it for metal detecting since it is 11 volts. By the time I finished dinner it was done.

The small chargers are inexpensive. No need for those $200+ chargers unless you need to see what's happening to the charge such as balancing the batteries or whatever. I bought a separate balancer for topping off my batteries when charging from a company called Thunder Power (called a Li-poly smart auto-balancer)

You can get a drop-down voltage regulator to drop the 3s 11v lipo to 9v, And you could hunt non-stop for a week, And the voltage won't drop It'll stay at 9v. Jay

First and foremost be leery of E-bay as a few bad apples selling...Thanks for the tip and have to look into them......

I use Imedion 9.6 volt NiMH and their specific charger. Cost total..about 52.00 for 2 batts/charger on Am*zon. Way better than regular 9v NiMH. Lithiums are awesome, but pricey. Its all what your wallet is willing to bear. Will provide the links to this equipment if interested. Just send me a PM.
