Hurricane Noel Took Away My Beach! :(

But left me a few goodies!

Me and my buddy Karl hit the beach this morning again after finding mostly clad last night. Karl got a silver ring last night. But our thinking was another high tide and some more 50 MPH winds would cut up the beach, so we would go again for the morning low tide. Well, the beach was gone...flat as a pancake, lots of black sand, everything taken out to sea. But there were a FEW things left wedged in the black sand and the Excal did not disappoint once again...I believe it's paid for about 10 times over by now. :)

Right off the bat I hit the silver chain and medals...sweet, I thought...this is gonna be great! Well, another two hours and a lot of clad but NOTHING else good. And it was cold as heck, driving wind, and rough as I have seen it in a long time. We were getting sandblasted to death. So then I hit this AWESOME low gold tone. And get it in one deep scoop. Shook it out and saw yellow...and WHITE! When I saw the ring I did a little dance and at that point it didn't matter how cold or how wet or how tired I was...the hunt was MADE!

When I got it home I tested it with my DiamondNite tester and it's real. Took it to the jeweler and he says "Looks like you made yourself about two grand". It's 14K with a half carat in the middle and 14 other little ones. It was almost a perfect fit for the wife but needed to be upsized from a 5.5 to a 6, which is being done now. You gotta love this hobby!

OMG that is one BEAUTIFUL RING!! Great find Mike....I know what you mean by it doesn't matter how cold it is after that kinda find.....The storm is just coming to NH here and I will see what I can get Sunday mid Morning hunt...low tide is at 1:00 pm-ish but if I don't get there early the tide changes very quick......again AWSOME FIND!......:clapping:

I think I would pass-out if I found such a ring, your wife must love it every time you step out the door to go detecting.:clapping:

Mike

Well you don't ever get tired of it. But it's also true that I have had my share of coming home with a $1 in clad type hunts too...even less a few times. Every dog has his day. :)

That is one sweet ring Mike!! :yikes: Boy, I'd love to find something like that out west here!! Still waiting for out winter to hit to wash out some sand!! :nopity:

Well good luck with that...I hope you get the right kind of movement. This storm was all wrong for us...it washed out TOO much. I got real lucky with that chain and that ring. We worked our butts off for the clad that we got and there were no "hot spots" at all...one-sies and two-sies was all. I know this beach and can say for sure that far more got taken away than got uncovered. It wasn't really a nor'easter, it was more a sou'wester...it wasn't the kind of action we were hoping for and it was a little too much. But I can't complain because I got lucky.
