Hurricane Bottle

After the flood waters from Hurricane Sandy receded here in Rockaway Beach,NY, I found this bottle among the pile of debris in front of my house. Anyone have any ideas as to age or any info about who Matt Nester was? I'm guessing around 1880 to 1890 and either beer or soda. It's in surprisingly good condition after being knocked around by the storm and traveling from wherever it came from. An interesting addition to my collection.

No second opinions needed, you got the age and beverage right. These were called blob top bottles, the crown top bottles came out right after these. The blob tops usually had a porcelain or glass stopper in the top with a wire bale type latch and either a small rubber or leather washer around the stopper to help create a good seal. A liitle research should be able to help you find out who Matt Nester was. Nice addition to your collection.
