Hunting with tone mod and zero discr. on a 6000/5900

I think that hunting with a 5900/6000 and tone mod on, in GEB DISC with discrimination set to zero, can help a faster recovery speed.
Any opinions?
All the best.

Alessndro,

Well turning down the DISC. to zero will give you alot of targets including trash. Why do you want to do this?

TC,
If You have the new 4 tones mod on, You can set discrimination at zero and look for those nice high tones. Iron will have the lowest tone...;)
With discrimination at zero I guess recovery speed could be better. Maybe even the usual and necessary swing speed (it is a four filter detector) could be slower.
Did someone try it?
All the best.

Running with zero disc should reduce masking, Back in the 90's that's how I ran my 6000 Di-Pro SL with my eye glued to the meter.

Same with the Explorer, Allot of us run with all-metal and do see a slight difference (less masking) in iron laced sites.

Note that the Discriminate range of adjustment is quite broad, going down low enough so as to manually GB in the TR-Disc. mode. If you set the control at the minimum position, you'll get falsing most of the time.

In GEB-Disc., simply bob the coil towards-and-away from the ground (from about 6"/8" down to about

Monte,
I meant that generally, when our 6000/5900 null on iron they takes a little time to return fully operative, so they could lose a good target near iron.
If You use Mrand tone mod in GEB/DISC (after ground balancing in geb/norm) You'll can set discr. at zero and search by hear for those high tones. I know that a little coil can help, but why not improve recovery speed with this method too?
All the best.

In newest version MultiTone ID V3.0 is add special TONE switch. This have two position. NORMAL (Whites factory) and FAST (fast recovery time). This fuction really minimize masking effect.

Hi mrand

I have your first version of the tone mod on my 6000 Pro XL, it is just a magnificent modification. The S.A.T. mode is great, and with the 4 tones it seperates really well. I found a nice sterling silver ring in a well worked old high school built in 1918. The high tone was mixed in with the 2nd low tone, I dug the mid conductor low tone first, and it was an old indian head nickle, after digging the nickle coin I got the high tone silver tone and it was the silver ring. The two targets were seperated by only a few inches. Thanks!!!!

I believe that the 4 tone mod (Mrand mod) is perfect using GEB SAT, because it resets very quickly fron two adiacent targets.
So I agree with Hombre, GEB SAT and multitone mixed mode is a killer application in trash areas.
