Hunting with the Gti 1500, I remember

The 1500 was my second detector, got it back in 2002. For years it was my main line hunter. Got a Ace 250 when they came out as a backup. Was going back yesterday, reading my old hunting logs. The thing I always knew about the 1500 was it being really hot on quarter's. But going back, I counted up a real good record especially on silver. Oh, it got gold too, but there was so much clad around I didn't really zero in on it. Anyways the AT Pro came along, (water proof) than the Infinium. This didn't leave a lot of time for my old Gti. This past spring, hunted it hard couple of months to check it out. Put it on Finds classifieds, with a fair price. Didn't take long. The new owner knew his stuff, so I guess the 1500 is cleaning up in another state. (Far from me)

One wonders why the imaging principle didn't escalate to other companies...or for that matter why Garrett itself didn't incorporate it into the units that followed.
Certainly old technology at its finest...Can't find a better parks unit even with newer technology.....

Had two back then, one for myself, one for my now wife. I found loads of clad with mine. Really liked it. Upgraded to a GTi2500 after that.

I still have mine although it started acting up a couple of weeks ago. Power shuts off on its own while detecting. Don't know what that's all about but I've had the detector for a lot of years.
I have found lots of coins and relics with it. Definitely got my monies worth out of it.

Could be a sticking or bad keypad button. Had that problem with mine.

I sold mine a couple years and wish I would have kept it

I feel all alone because I'm still using mine and it's my only detector. It just keeps going and going and going. Lol

I think the reason is that lifting the coil or listening to the width of the signal enabled savvy hunters to get an idea of the size of the target.
