Theres lots of iron around where i hunt and the Garrett at pro aint cuting it for me its geting me fustrated with all the ground balancing and falsing

What is the best suggestion for me to hunt both wet sand and waist deep surf, lakes etc

Exicalbur2 or soverign gt

Please comment why one is the better choice

MRS,both the Excal and Sovereign hate iron.I'm not an experienced surf hunter, others could give you better advice in this area.Good Luck Ron

Both the Sov GT n the Excal where made for beach detecting if your going to do a lot of waist deep hunting go with the Excal completely water proof , you can hip or chest mount the GT and go wet sand or knee deep water just not rough surf both machines are killer beach machines with water proof coils salt or fresh water . I wade with my GT chest mounted as deep as my belly button, but I'm hunting lake Erie or fresh water lakes where a lot of days there is little or no wave action so I don't feat going that deep. If you want to go deeper then buy and Xcal, but if you are happy with waist to belly button deep and plan to do a lot of dry sand or land hunting too then I'd get a Sovereign instead of the Xcal.

Both are excellent.

The Excal is waterproof. The Sov GT is not.

If you are going to do a lot of water area hunting, why risk a slip and fall in the water and thereby ruining your detector?

If you have the additional cash, I'd get the Excal and never worry about the water again.

What Smudge said....

I decided to get an Excal because I could get it wet, be that rain, lake, river. Got the GT later - love both of 'em too.
