Hunting the same parks over and over.

A couple metal detecting friends of mine always hunt the same local parks over and over because of time restraints. They still have some luck though getting silver out of these parks. I got my E Trac a month or so ago and they have let me in (told me) about these parks. Very kind of them. So I have also been hunting these
parks. Haven't found a lot of silver, but enough to keep me interested.

Today after the hockey game I went hunting at one of the parks. Had an hour or so to kill. The drive was only about 10 minutes. Found clad, after clad, coins.
Was just about to call it quits then got a very weak but nice sounding signal. I went round and round on it with the coil. I don't remember the numbers it gave me,
but I was going by sound. The depth guage on the screen was at the very bottom, but I decided to dig it anyway. I dug a plug as deep as I could with my shovel
and folded it over. Probed the hole and got a signal at the bottom of the hole. So I dug a bit more. There were lots of rocks down that deep but I kept at it.
Finally I saw a silvery object. Pulled it out and it was a silver dime. I get so excited every time. Newbie me. I doubt the excitement will ever stop now that I have
the fever. Any way it was a 1928 Mercury dime. No mint mark.
Attached is a couple of pics of it. Thansk for reading and HH.
Dan.

Thanks Dean,

The signal I got was very "iffy". In my opinion, when hunting parks that have been hunted to death, one needs to dig these.
I dug many iffy signals that day and only found junk.
I'm still a newbie but have had a lot of help from some seasoned hunters.

Thanks again, Dan.

Congrats on that '28 Merc, Dan---that's great!----I can tell you have "the fever"! :)---There is just something about the "glint of silver" down in that hole--I still get excited EVERY time I see it.-----Keep up the good work! --------God Bless, Del

Nice job,and nice coin,it pays to dig the iffy's.

great job, I too get excited EVERY time I see silver, my mind races as I think, what is it? a merc, a barber.......maybe seated!??

Geese, another ETrac in Illinois, there goes the neighborhood..... That's a pretty dime Dan, dig them "iffies"........

I always get excited too when I see silver at the bottom of a hole. When it stops being exciting, I'll sell my detector and move on.

Very good!! I also hunt the same places over and over and now and again I'm rewarded with something nice. A little tip for you though, go right after a rain and you may be pleasently surprised. I've found my best stuff in these places after a good rain.

Dan WTG so you think it was 9" Deep??? Mickfin

Dan, you never will get over the look of silver in the hole or plug. I have been in this hobby since 1968. I was 15 then. I will be 57 in June and I still get giddy when I see silver down in the hole. . So have fun and continue showing us all that you find. Thanks, HH...Jesse.

Great job on the finds and a very nice merc. and picture too! Keep at it! I don't envy you guys that have to work hard at those hunted out parks. I did a little of that this weekend and it was way different than what I'm used to. Had fun though!

We can tell by your post that you got excited :hot:. Bet you're still grinning:biggrin: Pulling a deep oldie out of a pounded park makes me smile too. :bouncy:
