Hunting rural soccer park. Pro had to really scratch.

Well maintained, but way out in the country park. This park gets hunted by someone. Picked clean of the easy stuff. Out of 34 coins only 6 were recently dropped. This is where the target separation of the Pro comes into play. Picked off targets close to trashy, concession / pavilion area . This with the standard coil to boot. Now where the fun of the hunt was behind and around some of the goal nets. Not a lot of trash, but started to get shakey signals in the 50/53 area. The hunt was on for those deep nickels. Squeezed out 7 of them bad boys, all hilt deep. This seems to be a depth were you can still find pockets of nickels here and there. Now this park is being hunted by someone pretty decent, but my guess is. His machine just can't reach down that deep, and maybe isn't so hot on difforatateing between nickels and alum. trash. You guys finding these pockets out there?
Those 7 nickels make 498 for the year. Started with a 500 goal.

Alright Man! Fill out that Quota! Nice work and very good informative post for when a fellow gets into such a place...you can tell somebodies been working it, and you can tell how theyve been working it and hunt it accordingly!:clapping:

Dang man, that's a lot of nickels in one year! But if I may ask.....why nickels? And congrats on "almost" reaching your milestone. I'm sure you will reach it any day now!

That's interesting Dancer. I too was on a seating area next to a soccer field the other day and the majority of the finds were nickels. They ring up at a clear 51 on my Pro as opposed to 56 for new pull tabs. I've noticed that at other fields also. It may be that they're being confused as pull tabs by other machine users.
HH!

Dgruff,

Dancer set a goal for finding 500 nickels this year...it was a great idea seeings how gold hides in those tones...its a lot of fun on this Forum during the Winter, on account of we all get ideas of what we want to shoot for in the coming season...some set a goal for 10,000 coins, some are 3000 Q's, some gold, some old silver, some relics and bullets etc...No matter what, its great fun watching and following along as the person attempts to hit it! We cheer each other on and take advantage of what they are learning. Plus, it really rounds a fellow out in this sport and helps us all get really good really fast by reading their experiences in their quest...

Nickels are a specific target that can have a mild and weakish tone, unlike silver, or clad it takes a lot of focus and dedication to fill out that quota, let alone the fact there are not as many nickels out there as lets say, high ping Dimes, Q's or copper pennies...they just are not a prolific drop as these, and can be a challenge to hear and recognize...so thats it I think, Dancer can of course jump in and provide what his idea was on his 'Nickel Quest' was all about...after all, this is his thread and topic...I just happen to be sitting around with nothing to do but read and type! You should start thinking about a big goal for yourself for next year! Its a lot of fun!:clapping: I think its great when one of us sets a personal goal...even if its just 1000 pulltabs or 1000 pennies, nobody would think either of those are much of a goal, but by gosh, a guy sure learns a lot from hunting a specific target!

Mud you said it better than I could. Only thing I can add is those nickels turned my best year for gold rings. (Only 5) but still my best year.

Nickels are a great goal if one wants to maximize their chances for finding gold. Also, "hunted out" sites generally contain a lot of nickels since a lot of people don't want to dig the pull-tabs or can slaw; they go for the clad or silver hits.

Ok, I get it now, lol. I'm going to have to think about that. I know I sure don't find a lot of them. Thanks Mud, for another informative post! I love this forum.
