I have hunted 3 different parks and all of them had a small piece of silvery light weight metal in the ground up wood chucks around the swings. These pieces look like they might have come from larger piece of metal chewed up by the machines. Anyone out there know what it might be part of?
They are mostly aluminum scrap sent through the shredder while wood is being turned into chips. I really hate them! Nowadays many wood chips are made from scrap lumber, pallets, etc. They use large magnets to remove the steel scrap, but the aluminum bits often make it into the final product.
