Hunting in iron(ground track offset)

I read that some think setting a little modulation helps with iron falses. Would dialing in a slightly negative offset to ground tracking quieten iron down, especially; when the ground has excessive moisture without sacrificing good targets? This is one of the settings on the V3i that intriques me. I really don't fully understand its purpose and from what little info I've read about it, I'm to the point of experimenting. I notice the VX3 doesn't have this adjustment so maybe it's really not that important in tuning the V3i for optimum performance.

The best way is to try it and see what happens. When my V3i get noisy, I go to Correlate mode, but this might not be of any help to you in your ground.

Negative offset helps the Meteorite Man by increasing response to iron in fairly sweet ground.

I don't use modulation because I don't need deep signals to be any quieter then they already are.
