Hunting in All Metal or PP at Worked Out Parks

Read a while back about a guy who likes to hunt in All Metal on his Sovereign at worked out spots and makes some good finds. Can't remember if he then switches to disc to check tyhe targets or not. Not even sure if my GT gets as deep or deeper than disc in all metal, but then again it might be to see masked coins that disc misses. Remember hearing that some say all metal can tell you type of target by the audio, and it also has a change when it's a nickle or above. Would like to hear from coin hunters who use all metal or PP and if they check in disc once found. Need to test and try this.

Also, what about trying Silent Search, then raising threshold to where you can hear it again to act as a signal boost, and then using that in PP or All Metal? Might be a PI depth deadly weapon. Need to try that too and compare to disc at depth.

I have only had the GT 3 months and the excal 1 plusyear but have hunted for 36 years. I used the excal in all metal and check in disc. lots of times it never registers in disc. at all till you remove some sand /dirt then you get either a good response or null. I have not mastered the sound in All metal yet but I am getting the shape in all metal down pretty good. I spend lots of after work hunts (1 hr) just trying to learn how to use the detector. It will pay off when I get the 6 or 8 hr hunts in later in the week. The GT I have used only on the beach and it seems to respond in much the same way. Somone with more time will chime in.

I recently purchased an excal II and am going to face fierce competition in MN both on the beaches and in the parks. The settings I know are crucial as is the swing speed. I have learned a ton reading these posts and feel I will be heading out with an edge over other beginners. I will be writing the suggested settings others have posted so when the time comes I will be ready. Unfortunately our winter is brutal this year! the wait is agonizing! what is the lowest temp our excals can handle?

Tried that PP hunting with my 800 excal in a small park, being a land hunter for several years, using a Explore with a meter..took me about 15 minutes to put excal back in the trunk of my car. I do much better hunting in AM, with ferrious tones on the SE, watching the digital screen. On the Beach I hunted years ago with a White's TH 1000 Pi, then got a Sea Hunter Pi..made the transformation to the excal, and PP mode seemed like home. Can't call every target, but ln knowing the target history of the beach one can dig alot less iron. On land, just too many target possibilities...for me.

I think a hot car is not good for any electronics. I use the Excalibur on the beach as low as the single digits with a good wind. Not that the machine can feel wind chill>
