Hunting Ground readings 65 down ?

Hey Guys hope you are digging awesome finds. I have a question for the guys that are hunting ground 65 down. Do you get pretty clean readings overall on your I.D.. I am talking about all the different I.D. options. I hear lots of good things from everyone but have not been able to find any soil around here that goes below 70 to test my MXT. Thanks, have a good day. HH

I'm working a small beach area where the ground can go from 24 on the beach to 70 in the water and to date I have found about 85 rings. 28 gold rings last year and so far this year I have found 7. I thought that I had cleaned this beach up last year but there are still some rings left to be found. My MXT is rock solid on the rings that average from 2 to 8 inches deep. I'm only using the 6x10DD coil. Sometimes when I'm in shallow water I get a lot of false signals when small waves come in but even so, when I go over a ring there is no mistaking that sound.
Hope this info helps..RonL(Edm)

I have been detecting since 1980 and have found a lot of interesting coins and other things of interest. I found my very first gold ring last year with the MXT. It almost feels like I was making up for lost time.
Keep swinging...RonL(Edm)

Jason,
My ground is very forgiving. Reads from low 30's to middle 60's. This type of ground was made for the MXT. Very smooth and all functions A-OK.
The 10"DD is one way to go for the MXT when the ground reads higher. In fact, this is a new coil for me and I am growing to love it more each time I go out. I had trouble pinpointing at first but now I am dead on.
HH,

what kind of readings do you get on the gold rings when hunting the beach area?

I use the C&J mode. Gain is at maximum (+3)
No discrimination and ground tracking is locked.
Threshold at about 9 oclock.(Silent)
The VDI ranges from 8(foil,ring) to 47(ring,pulltab).
I have been lucky as there are very few pulltabs at this beach. There are bottle caps though and they sometimes come up as a penny.
I also dig up a lot of lead bullets (22)and shell casings (22) that also register in the ring range.
I'm just experimenting with the ground locking feature since I read a really interesting response by Monte on another forum. Becuase the ground is so eratic the MXT seems to run a lot smoother.
If I notice an increase in threshold (not from an object)then I just hold the coil to the ground and flip the switch to auto-trac and then back to lock.
My only intent is to share information with those interested and not create any jelousy (I kmow he was just kidding) <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> .
There seems to be so much weirdness going on in the world today and I would not like to contribute to it.
Hope this helps..RonL(Edm)
