National holiday in Japan today - for some anyway, I only had a free morning. So, back to the beach near us with Ken (Riki went to boy scouts). He is trying to get enough coins to buy a gold one next month, so was very happy when a 500 yen coin showed up - holding it in the photo. He thought he had enough coins and was jumping with joy....... until counting them again at home and finding out that he is still about 300 yen short of the price of a gold one. Riki is down on the coins too and will have to pull something out of the hat (or a cache!) soon. He reckons he will hunt every Saturday and Sunday. And his solution if that doesn't happen is to sell his gold rings to me for cash, then he can buy a gold coin.
Ken - 673 yen in coins (about US$5.60) and a key, earring, pendant.
For me - 617 (about US$5.10) yen in coins, another 1922 Japanese coin, Zippo lighter, and a silver bracelet.
Oh, and the REAL GOLD (Not!) bottle cap.
Great weather and warm still.
