hunting beach question

So I went to my honey hole today and I couldn't get any good readings that were solid. Every two inches my detector would go off then the signal go away. I tried salt setting and deep silver and the coin setting. Would high trash work for this location. The area is a old beach resort on the bay. Ive pulled numerous silvers out of here every time I go with a Bounty hunter tracker IV I figured I would find even more with the v3i. I am running on factory settings still. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What program were you running?

Tried 3 different ones deep silve,r salt and beach, and coin.

If you are using the stock programs, my first guess is the Gain and/or Discrimination Sensitivity settings might be to high for your location and ground. I would suggest reducing both to gain stability. The factory settings are just a starting point for most users in most locations, but not all. You MUST have stability before anything else.

You won't do very well unless you use the beach program. The salt subtraction won't work with the single frequency deep silver program. Were are you located. I never had any trouble on the Texas beaches.

I have a beach that has 10 billion particles of iron per square foot. If I am in the wet sand I must turn the gain down to 4-5 and put up with some of the occasional blips. Smaller coil a must for these kind of beaches.

Im in new jersey. Ill try these ideas thanks guys.

The beaches of NJ are notorious for black sand. I tried using the V3i a while back, and it was superb on the dry sand, but it falsed a lot on the wet sand. Luckily I had my Excalibur in the trunk.

I noticed that the RX Gain is set to 10 in the Salt Beach program. I wonder if lowering the RX down to two and using TX Boost would be a good choice.

What part of NJ are you in? I am planning on heading down to the Jersey Shore (southern beaches) Sunday morning, weather permitting.

Neil, Central jersey from the raritain bay to seaside is where I hunt my major area of trouble is in the bay.
