Hunting at School-Question

I always ask permission to hunts schools. Some areas require a permit. Most schools give permission but only when school is not in session. Its just better to ask then you don't have a problem. HH Dennis in Idaho

Todd:
Go www.maps.live.com and survey your area. You will be able to see where there
are schools and what kind of sports fields might be there. You can find and look at parks
as well as any rivers or streams that might be close to where you live.
Also go to your main library or local one and ask the librarian for any folders they might
have regarding any old small towns outside your city limits. Look for "Ghost Towns of ......(for your Area)
There will probably still be people living there. Once you find an area that looks good go to the
Recorders Office and look for platt maps. The librarian may have some of tose maps on file.
They usually show where old buildings used to be located.
Good luck.

So my suggestion would be to ask...Usually groundskeepers have no problem as long as your neat and easier to get permission than perhaps an inside official.....
Certainly when school is not in session and would suggest Sat or Sun. or later in evening...

yes it never hurts to ask just ask i guess the principle of the school you should not have any problems ask if he would like to see your findings
good luck hh Jeff

Hey Todd,,,,,I work at a school,,,and the best answer to you is do it on a weekend when no activities going on,,,,,normally during the week, the school has sports activities going on,,not a good time,,,,,,,,,the best is in the summer,,,when school is out,,even better,,on a weekend,,,,preferable a sunday,,,,no sports activities then,,,,,i know,,i have done it then,,,HH,,Tim

I hunt schools on weekend mornings.
I never ask for permission.
I see people playing soccer there all the time after school hours, I know they don't have permission.
Last time I was there the sheriff pulled up.
Sat there for a second.
Waved and smiled.
Then drove off.
The neighbors walk by with their dogs, and are very nice.
In the event that I do get hassled I will be polite and act stupid and politely inquire where permission can be granted.
(This is my strategy, I am not recommending this strategy to anyone)
