Just got back from a brief stay on the Oregon Coast in the Tillamook area. I hunted the dry sand of a lake swimming area and hit the beach where lots of folks were walking a playing. Did all dry work. No big finds. Got some clad and talked with some nice people about the hobby. The no-seeums were so bad at the lake I had to cut short my hunt time.
Always being paranoid about where one can legally hunt, I went to the local State Park check in booth to ask what the rules were. They were very friendly and said I needed a permit and I could get one from them. There was no charge and it just took a few minutes to get that piece of paper that legitimized searching. If you visit Oregon it might be nice to know what is required. I want to go back to that lake when I have my underwater gear. I suspect it gets seeded pretty nicely and it's off the main track. My experience with the authorities on the Oregon Coast about metal detecting was a positive one. FYI...Jim.
