Hunting again

I have been absent for a while because work, a change of jobs, and personal matters left me no spare time. On the good side, my son has taken up the hobby, I think motivated in part by watching Gold Rush with my wife and I. For the first time I have a hunting buddy. He started on his own about a month ago with my MXT as a learner, but was not really finding much. When it was clear he was truly interested I let him use my Exp II and started teaching him to hunt deep and by sound with the best MD's there are, period. He started finding few things.

His enthusiasm disregarded my comments that "that is hunted out"; he found a little silver and his excitement built. His interest got me to make time, and I started hunting with him. Together in about a month we have found about 16 silver dimes and 3 quarters in areas I had given up on close to home. Our relationship has strengthened and we are closer now than we have been in years.

One thing is that although I almost never dig low signals because I get tired of the pull tabs, he dives right in. He found a 1883 with cents V nickel yesterday (not pictured). As a result he found one ring that unfortunately has "sample" on the inside and is not gold. That was really exciting until we figured out it was not gold, but got me digging those signals again as well.

He is using my Exp II with the Pro coil from my Etrac, and I have the Etrac using the Ultimate coil he bought me for my birthday.

With this added interest, I feel "reborn".

As stated above, this is what it's all about! Bringing people closer, having a great time and finding cool stuff. Congrats on the great finds and fun times! I wish you much more of both. Happy Hunting -Marc
