Ok where do I start.....what a fabulous hunt. The day was great the weather was perfect. The very first thing found was by my hunting partner and he got a 1885 seated dime, that got us both jazzed up, :clapping: believe me the dime was 2" deep, he almost didn't dig it because he just dug several aluminum pieces all around it at the same depth!

then 2 minutes later, I found the Indian penny, it was beside a large tree and maybe 3" deep, I couldn't believe how shallow these coins were. Then my second find I got a bouncy signal, it was pulltab, then penny back and forth. I said to myself I am digging who knows what it is, well 4" down I popped out this 18K ring, needless to say the happy dance was done again by me....
then to finish the day I got 2 wheats 1942, and 1944. My partner did not get anything else. We thanked the president of the historical society over and over for allowing us to hunt there and he told us we are welcome back again, since we can only hunt there when they are open and that is Sunday 2-4pm. You can bet your booty we will be back!!!!

Nice finds - Did you get a weight on the ring?
Nice finds - Did you get a weight on the ring?
it is a very thin band and a small size as well, I put it on the scale it is 2.5 grams

That IH is in really great shape! I have yet to break my IH cherry. I got a very similar English gold ring last fall. Mine was 22k with almost identical hallmarks. I have not found any 18k gold yet. My day was good. Your day was unbelievable. Great site. Our historical society does not allow detecting on their property. I have stopped donating to our local historical society. Funny how that worked out.

Chris

Oh yeah and a lousy old seated dime. Nice stuff.

Great finds!!!

Great looking coins. Good to find a ring like that.:super:

The ground where I live eats everything up.
I'd give you the two I found this year for the one you have.:please:
I'd give you the six I found last year for the one you have.

Great finds. The wedding rings of yeteryear were much smaller than todays. I found a womens gold ring at an old house that was very petite and weighed about the same. I am very suprised that they let you detect there.

I donated those 1850's gas valves I found while detecting a month or so ago

Its always nice to grease the wheels!!!

That was a really nice Indian Head! I love finding Indian Heads...they're usually a nice shiney green....I LIKE IT!!! GREAT find on that ring! I've never found anything past a 14K. That dime was pritty warn....but! Hey! Seated Liberty....I'd take'em any way I could get'em!!! You just don't see them very often! Definately a GOOD day for you BOTH!

I'd take that 18k gold ring over a silver coin. In fact, I'll trade you a whole bunch for it. Your silver coin will come any day now and probably when you least expect it. Good luck.

Chris
yep I agree with that statement, in fact I told my hunting buddy I'd rather found the IH in the shape it was than the seated dime he found. That IH penny was a one in a million find in the condition it was found.

Wowee you really did have a tremendous day,
Great finds there, I'm very confident your first silver is very close.
:clapping::clapping:

That is a nice indian head!! I hope you go back and hunt that area really hard because there should be more great treasures there..
