I've got an identical key to the one you've got. I was told it was from a set of play hand cuffs.

That beach looks alot like a section of beach I was on in N Myrtle Beach this morning. I got some gold though. Found it right off and it made me work the rest of the morning.
 
There sure were a ton of people out detecting this weekend. I was surfing at 16th street this afternoon.. the beach looked pretty flat, although i did see a little bit of black sand and there were a lot of broken bids of shell in the wet sand area. There were some cuts around 7th street.
