Hunted Out Park Doesn't Mean Nothin

Hello - been awhile since I posted - been spended too much time learnin' my quattro and practicing all the knowledge I gained from this forum.
Just wanted too share what me and a couple of buddies found out in a very old, run down park in south west Idaho. No one, except us, really hunts this park anymore as it is "picked over" - yeah keep believing that!!!

My buddies use Explorer II's and I swing the Quattro "low-n-slow".

I usually don't like swinging so slow but If a person will work the Quattro as your doing, it will pay dividends... with this machine, patience is good because slow means deep.... keep it up...Super finds... RichardnTn

Nice Walking Liberty half there dude!

It's been a while since I dug one of them.

??? Great finds and all but what's that? An Explorer or a Quattro? The Shafts and coil froma Quattro and the control box and arm rest of an Explorer?! ?!??

Ace, I think what we see is that he has the lower shaft there of a Quattro due to the fact that he has an X-1 probe mounted and you also have to get another shaft with that because the coil wire goes inside and the probe wire outside. So he probably has an Explorer II shaft with another coil and changes them to suit the hunt. Or another Quattro shaft. Since the only difference between them is the color. And the coils are interchangeable between the Quattro and the Explorer II as well.

Mike nailed it on the head - That is my buddy who went from a Quattro to an ExpII - I just did the same myself - we used the X-1's on the Quattros and the lower shafts were modified. No sense in giving up the shaft when it plugs right into the ExpII assembly.
Plus it kinda makes the heads turn on Minelab users - just for a second anyway :)

Mike you are one smart guy GI.:O:|I'd have never figured that one out. Speaking of cool detector setups, I wonder how that guy with the waterproof Explorer II deal is doing. Man what a housing he built for that unit..:geek::O:|

Yeah, that was awesome. One fine piece of work, indeed. That was Cahrles in Upstate New York that waterproofed his Explorer. I was so impressed I saved the pics. Hope he doesn't mind if I post them.

Man O man, that's a nice housing. I wonder if he's starting a little side business with it or not. If I had some more bucks, I'd sure be interested. Thanks for posting the pictures Mike, they're beauties.:geek::O:|:yo:

Heh...I guess you'll REALLY be impressed when I tell you he makes his own coils too. He made that coil. He's the Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor of metal detecting. Except his stuff doesn't blow up. :)

Wow, wow and super wow. This guy has it goin on the machinist, technical end of this stuff. Pretty interesting cat here. I'll bet he gets something going. At least I hope so. Thanks for the response Mike. I'm really glad you still come over to the Quatro site and respond to this stuff. It means a lot to me and I know it must mean a lot to the others too. Thanks for hangin in with us.:|:O:(:geek::|:O:geek::yo:

No problem...glad to help out if I can. So what have you found with YOUR Quattro lately?

I just sold a Civil War button I found with my Quattro for $95. It was actually one of the first things I found with the Quattro, at an old site that I had hit repeatedly with other machines. And I found a lot with those other machines ther, but the Quattro found the button. It was also the first thing other than jewelry that I've found and then sold. I've sold plenty of jewelry before (and of course cashed in thousands of coins) but have never sold and old coins or relics until now.

Look at the prices that some of these buttons can go for!!!
