Hunted curbs all day, and boy did it PAY OFF BIG TIME!

was running out of places to hunt so I suggested to Denny (kozyman) that we would hunt curbs today, he agreed, so glad he did

first curb we did he got a wheat and a 1923 merc. I got 4 wheats, and the silver ring. Next curb was clad for both of us.......then we came across this old house with a new sidewalk in front, dirt was still churned up all over along sidewalk, we pulled over and started to hunt.

Denny got a 1906, and 1907 barber dimes, then I got the 1937 buffalo, wheats were here and there. I found the crucifix, the keys, odds and ends. Then 1" down out popped the awesome shape 1887 indian.

I finally got a silver for the day and it was a decent shape merc dime, I could not read the date as I never rub silver coins, so I put it in my little bottle of water and continued hunting. When we were all down I opened my bottle of water and took out the merc dime, I saw the date.....1916
my heart started pumping, I slowly flipped the coin over and saw a mintmark........I about fainted....lol

I looked real close and it was an "S"...........NO...NO!!!!!!!
Oh so close, and it is in great shape too!

Denny also got a 1943 walking liberty half dollar, it was a great day for both of us! everything below is my finds

Nice finds. Love the IH. Too bad about the S instead of a D on the Merc.

He's got my vote!! I am wondering if his wife's name is Xterra ????:rofl: If I were to spend that much time with my Xterra that is what my wife's name would have to be.

Did anyone hassle you when you detected in front of their house? I know it is legal but I haven't tried it because I am afraid the homeowner will say something.
Did you ask the owner or just detect?

some I ask some I did not. I remember knocking on one door and I ask the lady "do you mind if I detect the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street that the city owns?" just be sure to remind them the city owns that land

if others were not home I just did it, and some people were just outside and they saw me, and I would just say "mind if I continue on thru?"

no one had any objections.

Congrats on the fantastic finds! The IH, Ring, and Merc all sweet!

I am in the afraid area alo. The curbs around here are very small, and the people tend to be very protective of a their yars, even though it ain't.

Once again great hunt, Beale.
