Hunted Connecticut Beach Today

Terry Soloman

New member
Well, the wife's business meeting banged through quickly, and the thunderstorms seemed to be holding off, so we jumped in the car and headed to Connecticut. Thanks to Lorrain, I tried a new beach near Bridgeport. Hit it right at low tide and got in two-hours while the wife took a powerwalk. The sun burned through the fog around 12pm, and I had to knock off about 1pm, to get the Mrs. back for her afternoon meeting. Got my first spoon (!), six memorial pennies (all pre 1994), a hearing aid and some Connecticut aluminum and iron! Still looking for that first gold and silver, but I can feel it! Thank you again for the spot Lorrain, and I really hope to hunt with you soon!

I like your write ups, Terry. Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us, and out there somewhere is a person fixin to loose their bling in a drunken stumbling stupor! The Carnival is setting up in my little town, I hunt where the carney's camp after they leave, I hope the Tilt-A-Whirl operator and the Ferris Wheel guy get in a brawl after hours this year swinging bags of coins for weapons!
Good Luck!

Gold is on the way. Here is my way of thinking.

"For every target dug that is not gold, that is one target closer to the one that is gold".

Good luck to you and by all means have fun

Just want to say thank you to each and every one of you! Just like gold prospecting, it's the PEOPLE around us that make the best memories. When I do score that first ring, it will be all the sweeter because I will have some great fellow hunters here - who understand and appreciate the hard hunting and hours that went into the find, to share it with. Way Cool, and Thank's!

That quote is why a lot of folks get disinterested in the hobby of metal detecting. They see the commercials or the finds of an acquaintance or friend from work. They rush out and purchase a metal detector and soon realize it is a lot of work and long hours of hunting. They never learn to use the machine and it either sits in the closest and gathers dust for years or they sell it and never look back.

It definitely takes some drive and determination to keep going out and digging holes in the dirt or sand and come home with a pile of can slaw and pull tabs with nothing to show but dirty fingernails and dead batteries.
The folks that stick with the hobby understand what it takes to generate finds and it is not like shooting fish in a barrel so to speak.
